Things to see in Fiji

Nadi and The Coral Coast
Aboard your flight to Fiji from the UK, you’ll be able to spot the main island of Viti Levu from the window of your plane as you start to descend into paradise. Appearing in the window of the plane as a green oasis in a sea of blue, one of the best examples of this lush greenery is the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, a botanical sanctuary created by Raymond Burr featuring beautiful orchids amongst tranquil lily ponds.
With a strong village atmosphere, Nadi has many sights to offer visitors including an open-air souvenir market where local wood crafts and fabrics can be gotten. It is also home to the largest Hindu temple in the southern hemisphere, Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple, where traditional Dravidian architecture is blended with wood carvings and riotous colours.
From Nadi, the coast reaches a point at Denarau Island and then continues south and east creating the southern coast of the island. This southern coast between Sigatoka and the capital, Suva, is more commonly known as The Coral Coast and stretches for 50 miles. With a combination of beaches and bays, The Coral Coast provides visitors with isolated resort experiences as well as local villages showing the “real” Fiji.
Fijian Culture
The people of Fiji are quite possibly the friendliest in the world. It won’t be long before you will be laughing with a local, having one giggle with your children, or sharing a bowl of kava; a must in any social gathering in Fiji.
Visitors can experience a kava drinking ceremony during a village visit which will show the traditional and historical aspects of Fijian life. Join a day tour and immerse yourself into the culture of the locals and you never know what may happen. You may even be asked if you would like to participate in fire-walking with the people of Beqa Island!
Insider’s Tip: The ceremony for drinking kava is done both on social and important occasions… but don’t worry, the friendly hosts will guide you through it!
Things to Do in Fiji

Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands
A must on any Fiji itinerary is to get off the main island of Viti Levu and out into the islands and atolls off the west coast. Made famous by countless movies such as Castaway (Monuriki Island) and The Blue Lagoon (Turtle Island), the Mamanuca Islands have several eco-friendly and luxurious resorts just 30 minutes from Port Denarau.
The Yasawa Islands to the northwest of Viti Levu further offer visitors a more wilderness experience with their beach holiday. With rugged hiking trails interspersed with serene beaches, the remote coves are the perfect place to escape and feel like you have your own island.
The Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands are famous for a number of things, but foremost is their water activities, both on and under. Surfing, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling, and diving all feature as fantastic ways to spend your days, or alternatively, you can do as little as possible and enjoy spa treatments with views you will remember for the rest of your life!
Insider’s Tip: If you are not going to be staying on the islands, the best way to see them is to take a scenic day flight over them. You can even land to be able to experience some of the beautiful scenery for a few hours!
Taveuni Island
A much more remote island off the east coast of Vanua Levu, Fiji’s second largest island, Taveuni Island has more than 80% of it protected within the Bouma National Heritage Park. Known as Fiji’s Garden of Eden, Taveuni Island is a short plane flight from Nadi but is a world away in appearance. Covered in rainforests and volcanic mountains, it allows visitors to walk amongst prehistoric tree ferns and orchids to the base of magnificent waterfalls such as Tavoro Waterfall where swimming in the crystal clear water is encouraged.

Most people travelling to Fiji from the UK will require two connections, either through places in the Middle East or Asia such as Dubai or Singapore, then Australia or New Zealand such as Sydney or Auckland. The Benefits of Business Class Flights to Fiji
When flying to the opposite side of the world, the biggest and most important benefit will always be comfort. With business class flights to Fiji, the 27 or more hours spent getting there become part of the holiday. Room to stretch out and relax in the business class cabin means not having to worry about being cramped up, while the seats converting into lie flat beds provide a good night’s sleep.
The use of the lounge for business class passengers makes connections a breeze, with a quiet and comfortable location away from the crowded gates to refresh and grab a bite to eat or a drink. Make use of the shower facilities or get a spa treatment and it will feel like you haven’t even travelled yet. Then with priority boarding and luggage collection, you will be in resort and on a tropical beach before you can say ‘Bula’.
